The kids were asleep in their cribs and I was strapped to a baby to my back. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet it was still a long distance away. To complete this task I had planned to spend a considerable amount of money and spend time looking for my dream house. To keep in my budget, I took my boys along to search for gems hidden in estate sales. We had a weekly schedule that included spending the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate and garage sales, buying old and new items. I then spent the remainder of the week painting and sanding on the driveway. It looked a bit like the following... Here is where my obsession with the restoration of antique furniture began. Even after our house was finished, I didn't want to quit! In the market in town I was able to rent a tiny area and then sold a few items. Eventually, I had too lots of pieces to keep in the space available. Over 1000 people visited my home in just one weekend to buy everything on the ground floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days wasn't just an incredibly successful business, but it was also a loving family. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days just fit. Nora my fourth child was born in the year 2013. Although I was happy with the direction my business took, I felt like I needed to take an occasional break. I opted to take a little breaks from my old furniture and be at home with my children. At the time, it was the ideal thing to do. It was only after several months that the phones started to call. There were calls from people asking me to help them with decorating their homes and interiors. The majority of them visited my home during my furniture open houses. Once I had a few months I began to take on customers in my own way. Before long I had several accounts and a home renovations business. If you'd predicted that this venture of mine would turn into the basis of a television show on DIY Network I probably would have thought you were crazy. As I reflect at it, it has made me laugh.
